Do not plan on attending a day time tour if your intention is to conduct any kind of paranormal investigation.
We will not tolerate people conducting these activities while parents are in the building attempting to educate their children. If you attempt a daytime hunt during educational tour hours you will be ordered to leave the property!
All of our staff are volunteers. We require advanced notice so that tour guides may adjust their life / work schedules.
Tours last between 1.5 to 2 hours and cost:
IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT: There is no formal charge for historical / educational daytime tours to the general public. A donation would be gladly accepted however. There are two possible types of tours you would receive based upon the availability of guides: A complete guided tour of the house and grounds from top to bottom or a self guided tour of the property. With the self guided tour you would be given a printed tour brochure and would then receive 2 hours on the property to explore by yourselves. A caretaker will remain in the house and monitor CCTV of all floors for safety and security reasons. We cannot guarantee which type of tour you may receive on any scheduled or non-scheduled date. It will have to do with who is available as a guide. We have disabled and semi-disabled people helping with the estate who are not able to guide people through the building physically. More able bodied guides have day jobs and may or may not be able to adjust their schedules to the tour program.
SAFE ENTRY POLICY:
THERE MAY BE OCCASIONS WHEN TOURS ARE NOT AVAILABLE DUE TO SAFETY AND INSURANCE RESTRICTIONS. THE PUBLIC IS NOT PERMITTED ON THE PREMISES WHEN CONSTRUCTION OR POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS RESTORATION ACTIVITIES ARE ONGOING.
ALSO, WHEN TEMPERATURES ARE IN THE EXTREME HEAT INDEX RANGE AS ISSUED BY THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE (USUALLY OVER 90 F) WE WILL BE CLOSED. THE MANSION IS NOT AIR CONDITIONED AND TEMPERATURES IN PARTS OF IT CAN BECOME EXTREMELY DANGEROUS DURING THOSE TIMES.
WE WORK TO MINIMIZE THIS OCCURRENCES AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE TO GIVE THE PUBLIC MAXIMUM ACCESS TO THE ESTATE.
Due to insurance rules evening and night-time 1.5 hour tours (after 3 pm) are not possible.
